Beirut, July 29 (QNA) – Israeli military operations continued across southern Lebanon on Wednesday despite a recently signed framework agreement between the two sides aimed at easing tensions and advancing security arrangements.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli forces demolished homes in the town of Al-Mansouri while setting fire to houses in Al-Qantara in the Marjayoun district.

Israeli military vehicles also advanced to the outskirts of the towns of Aita al-Jabal and Bint Jbeil, while the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa came under intermittent artillery shelling, the agency said.

The NNA added that Israeli military aircraft flew over several areas of southern Lebanon as well as the capital, Beirut.

The operations came despite a US-brokered framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel that provides for security arrangements and the redeployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon. The agreement also includes provisions for the reconstruction of war-damaged areas, measures to support Lebanon’s economic recovery, the establishment of direct communication channels between the two sides, and confidence-building steps aimed at paving the way for a lasting peace.
