The Council of Ministers held its regular meeting on Tuesday in Khartoum under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris. In a press statement, the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, said the Cabinet congratulated the Sudanese Armed Forces, the Joint Forces, supporting forces, and volunteer fighters on their recent victories over the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in the North Kordofan theatre of operations. He added that the Prime Minister congratulated the members of the Transitional Sovereign Council (TSC), particularly TSC President and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on the great victory. On behalf of the Cabinet, the Prime Minister also extended his sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, paid tribute to their sacrifices, wished the wounded a speedy recovery, and directed that all necessary healthcare and medical services be provided to the injured. Al-Eisir said the Prime Minister commended the performance of ministers and government institutions, praising the projects completed over the past week and highlighting major activities and achievements across several ministries. The Cabinet assigned Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza to submit an urgent plan for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Al-Nilein Mosque in Omdurman. It also discussed the proposals of the committee tasked with reviewing Hajj and Umrah affairs and accelerating the development of an urgent vision regarding the work of the Higher Council for Hajj and Umrah. The Minister said the Cabinet also discussed irrigation requirements for the Gezira Scheme to ensure the success of the agricultural season. It further reviewed three draft laws prepared by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications: the Cybersecurity Regulation Bill, the Data and Artificial Intelligence Bill, and the Digital Transformation Bill, 2026. He noted that the three draft laws would be subject to further deliberation during upcoming Cabinet sessions before being approved. Al-Eisir added that the Cabinet heard the final report of the committee tasked with developing an implementation plan for the One Million Productive Housing Units Project, established under Prime Ministerial Directive No. 101 of 2026. The Cabinet approved the implementation plan, and detailed information on the project will be presented in the coming weeks. The Minister also said the Cabinet discussed the requirements for rehabilitating the Khartoum Refinery and establishing a new refinery in Port Sudan, including the implementation timetable and estimated cost. The Council directed the formation of a committee to examine the proposals and submit a detailed report on the rehabilitation of the Khartoum Refinery and the proposed construction of the new refinery.BH/BH
