Amman, August 2 (Petra) – The domestic tourism program, “Urdunna
Jannah” (Our Jordan is Paradise), has drawn roughly 158,000 tourists
across 4,900 trips nationwide since its launch, according to a
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities statement released Sunday.
The initiative energized the local economy by engaging 139 travel
agencies, 4,900 tour guides and buses, 98 restaurants, and 95 hotels
and tourist camps. Additionally, 1,315 tourists utilized direct
booking services using their private vehicles.
Jordan’s Golden Triangle, comprising Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba, led
overnight stays, accounting for more than 57,600 beneficiaries and
nearly 59,000 overnight bookings. Wadi Rum recorded over 26,000
nights, followed by Petra with 21,500 nights and Aqaba with 6,900
nights, while the remaining stays were spread across other
governorates.
Beyond traditional hotspots, newer destinations such as Iraq al-Amir,
Umm ar-Rasas, and Rihab also saw rising interest, demonstrating the
program’s success in diversifying domestic travel across the Kingdom.
