Amman, August 2 (Petra) – Official and labor bodies across the
Kingdom issued safety guidelines on Sunday, urging employers,
farmers, and business operators to take precautionary measures to
protect workers, livestock, and food supplies during the ongoing
heatwave.

The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) urged
economic facilities to strictly enforce occupational health and
safety standards.

Pointing to outdoor laborers in agriculture, construction, and
service sectors, the GFJTU called on employers to avoid direct sun
exposure during peak hours, adjust work shifts, provide cold drinking
water and adequate rest breaks, and supply protective equipment.

In the agricultural sector, the Sahab District Agriculture
Directorate advised farmers and livestock owners to adjust irrigation
schedules, avoid spraying or fertilizing crops during midday heat,
and ensure sufficient water, ventilation, and shade for animals.

Sahab Agriculture Director Hussam Hayek said that following the
authorities’ technical guidelines will help minimize losses and
safeguard agricultural production.

Meanwhile, local authorities tightened public health oversight.
Jerash Governor Malik Khreisat directed inspection teams to step up
monitoring of markets, food businesses, and school canteens to
guarantee food safety during the high temperatures, warning that
legal action will be taken against violators.

Officials said that complying with safety measures during extreme
heat remains a shared responsibility to protect public health and
maintain economic productivity.
