Ma’an, Aug. 2 (Petra) — The Land Transport Regulatory Commission
(LTRC) on Sunday began trial operations for the second phase of the
regular transport service on the Ma’an–Amman route, deploying 14
medium and large buses operating on fixed schedules.

Suleiman Al-Nawafleh, director of the LTRC office in Ma’an
Governorate, said buses will depart from Ma’an and Amman in both
directions every 45 to 60 minutes, regardless of passenger numbers or
occupancy rates, to ensure service regularity and adherence to
schedules. Daily trips will run from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Al-Nawafleh added that the project introduces an integrated suite of
technologies inside the buses, including GPS tracking, electronic
payment systems, CCTV surveillance, and free Wi-Fi for passengers.

The launch of the service includes no changes to transport fares,
Al-Nawafleh noted, explaining that current tariffs remain identical
to those set before the regular service implementation, ensuring no
additional financial burden on citizens or students.

He highlighted that the shift to scheduled departures allows
passengers to plan trips and arrive according to a clear timetable,
rather than waiting for buses to reach full capacity.

The inclusion of tracking technologies and onboard cameras aims to
enhance safety, improve operational oversight, and boost public
confidence in mass transit, Al-Nawafleh said.

He called on residents and students in Ma’an Governorate to utilize
the regular transport service, noting that reliable schedules and
fixed fares are key to helping commuters manage their daily
commitments.

Al-Nawafleh stated that the initiative aligns with the Economic
Modernization Vision and government efforts to develop the kingdom’s
public transport system through digital transformation, marking a
first step toward expanding routes and fleet size in Ma’an in future
phases.
