Amman, August 3 (Petra) – The Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) achieved
a “major operational milestone” in July, handling 101,900 twenty-foot
equivalent units (TEUs), a 14.8% increase compared to 88,781 TEUs
during the same month in 2025.

Despite regional strains that caused severe congestion at neighboring
ports and delayed shipments, ACT processed over 31,000 import
transactions in July. Transit cargo surged by 180.9%, reaching 20,237
TEUs compared to 7,205 TEUs in July 2025, while external truck
movements rose 16.5% to 61,075.

During the first seven months of 2026, ACT handled 573,680 TEUs, up
3% from 556,843 TEUs during the same period last year.

ACT CEO Jose Rueda attributed the success to the workforce’s
resilience and proactive decision-making, including leveraging the
Aqaba Logistics Village (ALV) to expand capacity ahead of demand.

He stated ACT’s commitment to investing in personnel, infrastructure,
and partnerships to secure Jordan’s supply chains and solidify its
status as a premier regional logistics hub.
