Amman, August 4 (Petra) – Inspection teams from the Ministry of Water
and Irrigation/Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) detected 5 cases of
illegal water pipeline tapping in Al-Samak area in Amman’s Na’ur
district.
The illegal fixtures, measuring 1 and 2-inch diameter, were used to
supply poultry farms, homes, and collection wells.
This crackdown was part of the ministry’s campaign to stiffen control
over Jordan’s water resources. The illegal connections were removed,
and official reports were filed to initiate legal action against the
perpetrators.
According to a ministry statement issued Tuesday, an illegal well was
also discovered in Ain Al-Deek area in Jerash governorate.
Authorities removed the violation, confiscated drilling equipment and
filed official reports, as investigation is ongoing into the
incident.
On their joint future vision, the statement said the ministry and the
WAJ will continue their efforts to firmly monitor Jordan’s water
resources to achieve deterrence goals.
