Washington, August 5 (QNA) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Britain’s Ed Miliband reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring the safe passage of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement issued after Rubio and Miliband met in Washington today, the US Department of State said the two sides stressed the need to ensure that Iran does not develop or possess a nuclear weapon.
The statement added that the two officials also discussed the importance of Europe assuming a greater role in its own security.
The meeting was the second between Rubio and Miliband following their talks on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting in Manila last July. (QNA)
