Cairo, Aug. 7 (Petra)– Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil
Fahmy strongly condemned Israel’s repeated use of force to expand its
control and alter realities on the ground, including the targeting of
civilians and civilian infrastructure through ongoing military
operations and violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West
Bank.
He also condemned Israel’s repeated attacks on Lebanon and Syria and
its violations of their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Fahmy stressed that Israel’s arrogance, continued pursuit of this
approach and expanding use of force would not bring security or
stability, but would instead heighten tensions, widen the circle of
confrontation and threaten the security of the entire region.
He underscored the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial
integrity of Arab states, halt attacks on Lebanon and Syria, and end
the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, foremost among them the
Palestinian territories.
He reaffirmed the need to establish an independent Palestinian state
along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
