Amman, Aug. 7 (Petra)– The first meeting of the Joint Coordination
Committee for the Jordanian-Japanese cooperation project to establish
a unified national geospatial reference system was held at the Royal
Jordanian Geographic Centre (RJGC), bringing together representatives
from the RJGC, the Department of Lands and Survey (DLS), and the
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The meeting was chaired, on behalf of RJGC Director General Muammar
Haddadin, by Neveen Al Hassan, Senior Advisor to the Director
General. Representing the DLS, Deputy Director General Ahmad Jarrar
chaired the meeting on behalf of Director General Khaldoun Al Khaldi,
while JICA Jordan Chief Representative Morihata Shingo represented
the Japanese side.
The meeting opened with remarks by representatives of the RJGC, DLS
and JICA, followed by technical presentations by project managers
Eng. Ali Alimat of the RJGC and Eng. Firas Ja’aroun of the DLS. The
Japanese consulting team also delivered a technical presentation on
the project, followed by an open discussion among participants.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to conduct joint field visits
to finalize the location of the new international geospatial
reference system station and test evidence-based data exchange
mechanisms, while continuing to address the project’s related
technical and implementation aspects.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the project,
which aims to develop a unified national geospatial reference system
through technology transfer, capacity building, and strengthened
technical cooperation between Jordan and Japan.
