Washington, August 08 (QNA) – The US Senate has confirmed Todd Blanche as Attorney General of the United States.
The Senate approved Blanche’s nomination by a narrow 50-49 vote, formally elevating him from acting attorney general to permanently lead the US Department of Justice.
All Senate Democrats opposed Blanche’s confirmation, joined by two Republicans, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
Blanche expressed his appreciation for President Donald Trump’s confidence in him and thanked the Senate for extending its session to complete the confirmation process.
President Trump appointed Blanche as Deputy Attorney General in 2025, after Blanche had previously served as Trump’s personal attorney. The Senate confirmed him as the department’s No. 2 official by a 52-46 vote in March 2025.
Following Trump’s removal of Attorney General Pam Bondi in April 2026, Blanche assumed the role of acting attorney general. He subsequently became Trump’s nominee to serve permanently as head of the Justice Department.
With his confirmation, Blanche becomes the 88th Attorney General of the United States. (QNA)
