Khartoum, August 9, 2026 (SUNA) — Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met with Minister of Minerals Nour Al-Daim Taha on Sunday to discuss efforts to develop the mining sector, improve oversight of gold production, and regulate artisanal mining and mineral markets. Taha said the meeting also reviewed a significant increase in gold exports in recent months following measures adopted by the ministry. He said gold exports during the first six months of this year reached a level equivalent to total gold exports for all of 2025, attributing the increase to the flow of gold through official channels and strengthened safeguards across the sector. The minister said the Prime Minister expressed strong understanding and support for the ministry’s work and commended its efforts across various areas. BH/BH
