Amman, Aug. 11 (Petra) — Temperatures are forecast to decline
gradually through the end of the week, returning to seasonal averages
by Friday, while very hot conditions continue to affect the Jordan
Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, according to the Jordan
Meteorological Department.

Relatively hot weather will prevail on Tuesday across the highlands
and plains, while the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and
Aqaba will remain very hot. Moderate winds shifting between
northeasterly and northwesterly directions are expected to strengthen
during the afternoon, raising dust particularly in desert areas.

The Meteorological Department warned against prolonged exposure to
direct sunlight during peak hours, particularly in the Badia and
low-lying regions. It also cautioned that blowing dust could reduce
horizontal visibility in the Badia.

The department urged the public not to leave children or older adults
inside closed vehicles and advised against lighting fires or leaving
burning materials in forested areas.

A slight drop in temperatures is forecast on Wednesday, although
relatively hot weather will continue across the highlands and plains
through Thursday. The Badia will remain hot, while very hot
conditions are expected to persist in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea
and Aqaba.

Moderate northwesterly winds are forecast on Wednesday and Thursday,
becoming active during the afternoon and generating dust,
particularly across the Badia.

Temperatures are expected to decline further on Friday, returning to
their seasonal averages for this time of year. Typical summer
conditions will prevail across most regions, while the Badia, the
Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba will remain hot. Some
low-altitude clouds are also expected.

Tuesday’s temperatures are forecast to reach 36 degrees Celsius in
East Amman and 34 C in West Amman, while highs of 32 C are expected
in the northern highlands, 33 C in the Sharah highlands and 35 C
across the plains.
