Amman, Aug. 11 (Petra) — Jordan and Libya signed a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in labor and
employment, with a focus on vocational training, labor legislation,
inspection and occupational safety and health.

Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal Qatamin signed the agreement on
behalf of the Jordanian government, while Libyan Minister of Labor
Ali Rida signed on behalf of Libya’s Government of National Unity.

The signing ceremony at the Ministry of Labor was attended by Libyan
Ambassador to Jordan Musa Dagali, Ministry Secretary-General Abdul
Halim Dujan, Vocational Training Corporation Director-General Raafat
Sawafin and ministry officials.

Qatamin said the agreement builds on the close relations between
Jordan and Libya and provides a framework for expanding bilateral
cooperation in labor-related fields and exchanging expertise between
the two countries.

Under the MoU, the two sides will cooperate in employment and labor
legislation, vocational training, training of vocational instructors
and career guidance.

Rida said the agreement would broaden cooperation between the two
countries and facilitate the exchange of expertise in vocational
training, labor inspection, occupational safety and health, and
employment.

During the meeting, Qatamin also briefed the Libyan minister and
accompanying delegation on Jordan’s labor market regulation efforts
and key employment initiatives, including the National Employment
Program, the Satellite Production Units Initiative and the national
employment platform, Sajil.
