Population of Oman Exceeds 5.3 Million

Muscat,
11 Aug 2026 (ONA) — The total population of the Sultanate of Oman reached 5,398,645
at the end of June 2026, recording a growth of 1.7 percent compared to the end
of June 2025, when it stood at 5,306,976.

Data
from the monthly statistical bulletin issued by the National Centre for
Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the number of Omanis reached
3,063,949 by the end of June 2026, accounting for 56.75 percent of the
Sultanate of Oman’s total population, while the number of expatriates reached
2,334,696, representing 43.25 percent.

At
the governorates level, Muscat Governorate topped the governorates in terms of
population, with a total of 1,542,619 people, accounting for 28.6 percent of
the Sultanate of Oman’s total population.

North
Al Batinah Governorate ranked second with a population of 947,147, representing
17.5 percent of the total population, followed by South Al Batinah Governorate
with 590,160 people, accounting for 10.9 percent.

A’Dakhiliyah
Governorate ranked fourth with a population of 575,096, representing 10.7
percent of the total population, followed by Dhofar Governorate in fifth place
with 536,302 people, accounting for 9.9 percent.

The
population of South A’Sharqiyah Governorate reached 378,335, representing 7
percent, followed by North A’Sharqiyah Governorate with 323,473 people, accounting
for 6 percent, and then A’Dhahirah Governorate with 249,095 people, accounting
for 4.6 percent.

The
population of Al Buraimi Governorate reached 135,797, accounting for 2.5
percent, while the population of Al Wusta Governorate reached 64,815,
representing 1.2 percent, and Musandam Governorate recorded 55,806 people,
representing 1 percent of the total population of the Sultanate of Oman.
