Amman, Aug. 12 (Petra) — Five people were arrested Wednesday morning
after an attempt to illegally cross the Kingdom’s northern border was
foiled by Border Guard units, the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army
said.
The individuals were detected while attempting to cross one of the
border fronts within the Northern Military Zone’s area of
responsibility.
Border Guard units applied the established rules of engagement and
apprehended the five individuals, who were subsequently referred to
the competent authorities for further legal proceedings.
The Armed Forces said the operation underscores the continued
vigilance and operational readiness of Border Guard units in
monitoring the Kingdom’s borders and responding to infiltration and
smuggling attempts.
It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Jordan’s security and
territorial integrity, stressing that attempts to breach the
Kingdom’s borders or threaten its security and stability will be
dealt with firmly.
