European Stocks Open Mixed

Brussels, August 12 (QNA) – European stock indices opened mixed on Wednesday, amid anticipation of the release of monthly inflation data in the US, at a time when markets were supported by higher oil prices.
In the main European markets, France’s CAC 40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange fell 0.09 percent, while the UK’s FTSE 100 index in London declined 0.04 percent.

In contrast, Germany’s DAX index on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange rose 0.26 percent, while Italy’s Milan Stock Exchange index recorded a 0.25 percent increase. 

There was little change in the European STOXX 600 index, which stood at 661.26 points. 
The European energy sector led the gains, rising 0.7 percent, while the automobiles and parts sector recorded the largest losses among the sectors listed on the index, declining 0.8 percent.

TKMS shares jumped 9.2 percent, while shares of TUI, Europe’s largest tourism and travel company, lost 2.8 percent. 

Shares of Germany’s K+S, which specializes in the extraction of potash and salt, rose 2.2 percent. (QNA)
