Amman, August 12 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and
Holy Places, and Chairman of Board of Directors of Zakat Fund, Dr.
Mohammed Khalayleh, launched “My Schoolbag” project, which provides
school bags and stationery supplies.

Implemented by the fund, the project will benefit approximately
20,000 students across the Kingdom.

During the project’s launching ceremony on Wednesday, attended by the
Grand Mufti, Dr. Ahmad Hasanat, Khalayleh stated the schoolbag
project is part of the fund’s programs aimed at assisting
impoversihed families and orphans, and bringing joy to their lives,
adding that this initiative is a religious and national duty.

Khalayleh affirmed the fund’s commitment to selecting the “highest
quality” schoolbags and supplies for the students, based on the
principle of providing the best items for the children of beneficiary
families.

He noted that bags contain all the essential stationery items
required by students.

He said bags were purchased from the Civil Service Consumer
Corporation at preferential (wholesale) prices, ensuring product
quality, which underwent technical inspection to confirm their
compliance with approved specifications and standards.

He stated the fund continues to implement a “wide” range of programs,
including building and renovating homes for underprivileged families,
providing care for the poor and orphans, distributing winter
clothing and Eid gifts, and supporting students with school bags and
supplies.

He added that the fund is also developing its programs and launching
new projects to achieve the purpose behind establishment of this
body.

Khalaileh expressed his appreciation for the donations and support of
benefactors to the Zakat Fund, adding that Jordan is a “land of
generosity.”

In this context, he cited solidarity of Jordan’s citizens
contributes to meeting needs of families facing difficult living
conditions and enabling students to continue their education and
build their future.

During the ceremony, Khalaileh distributed the bags to a number of
deserving students, while heads of the Awqaf directorates received
their respective allocations to be delivered to those eligible
pupils.
