JUBA, Aug. 11, 2026 (SUNA) – Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minawi met in Juba with South Sudan President’s Security Adviser Tut Gatluak during his official visit to South Sudan. The meeting discussed developments in Sudan, the situation of the Sudanese community and refugees in South Sudan, the humanitarian crisis resulting from the war, and ways to support peace and stability in both countries. The two sides discussed challenges facing Sudanese nationals and refugees in South Sudan, emphasizing the protection of their rights, facilitation of humanitarian assistance and essential services, and creating conditions for those wishing to return voluntarily and safely to Sudan. They also stressed the importance of securing the common border and strengthening security coordination, noting that the stability and security of Sudan and South Sudan are closely interconnected. Minawi underscored the historical and social ties between the two peoples and reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to its unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that any resolution to the crisis must preserve Sudan’s national independence and meet the aspirations of its people. For his part, Tut Gatluak affirmed South Sudan’s keenness to strengthen relations with Sudan and continue joint efforts to address issues of mutual concern. The two sides agreed to maintain coordination on humanitarian, security and border issues and strengthen cooperation to support stability, protect citizens and further develop relations between the two countries.BH/BH
