KHARTOUM, Aug. 11, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Defense Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kabroon has concluded an official visit to South Sudan, heading a delegation comprising representatives of several government institutions. The visit featured discussions on a number of issues of mutual concern to the two countries. Speaking to the press at Khartoum International Airport on Tuesday, the minister said the visit came as part of efforts to implement previous protocols between Sudan and South Sudan, particularly those related to the work of the Joint Political and Security Committee. He noted that the committee’s last session was held in Sudan before the outbreak of the war, explaining that the current visit sought to reactivate the outcomes of previous committee meetings, pave the way for discussing outstanding issues, and explore means of implementing them to achieve full integration between the two countries. He stressed that the stability of both countries requires implementing agreements in the security, political and economic fields. The minister said the discussions were fruitful, with both sides demonstrating seriousness in reaching satisfactory understandings on all issues in a manner that meets the aspirations of the two countries.He praised the strength and durability of bilateral relations, describing South Sudan as a sister and neighboring country. He said the delegation conveyed greetings from the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Prime Minister to their counterparts in South Sudan, and returned with greetings from the President and government of South Sudan to the people and government of Sudan, along with wishes for stability. Kabroon commended South Sudan’s warm reception of the visit, saying it underscored the depth of relations between the two countries and their commitment to implementing signed agreements.The minister noted that, in addition to the Minister of Defense and the committee chairman, the delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Intelligence Service, various police units, and the Border Unit.BH/BH
