Ajloun Cable Car welcomed over 1.4m visitors since launch: Official

Ajloun, August 13 (Petra) – The Ajloun Cable Car transformed the
governorate’s tourism since its launch in 2023, welcoming more than
1.4 million visitors and evolving from a ride into a “major” economic
engine, said Director-General of Development Zones Reem Sahawneh.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 3rd Ajloun Cable Car Summer
Festival, Sahawneh stated that the landmark anchored domestic tourism
and served as a “cultural hub” for regional events, festivals, and
local artisans.

As for its impact on the region, she said the cable car’s impact
extends well beyond rider counts. By combining scenic rides with
local craft markets and cultural programming, the initiative boosts
local businesses, including restaurants, guides, transportation
providers, and rural producers.

Sahawneh called for integrating the cable car with other attractions
in Ajloun, including Ajloun Castle, the nature reserve, restaurants,
rest areas, and markets.

In turn, Tareq Maaytah, Director of the Ajloun Development Zone,
echoed this vision, stating the ultimate goal is shifting public
mindset from simply “visiting the cable car” to “exploring Ajloun
through the cable car.”

The facility drew over 10,000 visitors in the first three days of the
Eid al-Adha holiday alone, according to Maaytah.

He noted that the Ajloun Cable Car “rapidly” became a signature
landmark, offering travelers a year-round gateway to explore the
governorate’s natural beauty, rich culture, and local offerings.
