Amman, Aug. 16 (Petra) — A Jordanian parliamentary delegation led by
Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Haitham Ziyadin, concluded an
official visit to Beirut, where it held talks with Lebanese officials
on strengthening parliamentary ties and coordinating on issues of
shared concern.

Ziyadin met Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister Youssef Raji
and reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast position, under the leadership of
His Majesty King Abdullah II, in supporting Lebanon and its people,
according to a statement from the committee on Sunday.

He stressed Jordan’s support for the Lebanese state’s efforts to
reinforce its sovereignty and overcome current challenges, pointing
to the king’s diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives promoting
regional peace and stability.

Raji underscored the deep, historic bonds between Jordan and Lebanon
and voiced appreciation for the kingdom’s support under King
Abdullah’s leadership.

The delegation also met Fadi Alama, chairman of the Lebanese
Parliament’s Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Committee, to discuss
activating parliamentary diplomacy, strengthening cooperation between
the two countries’ legislatures, exchanging expertise between
counterpart committees, and expanding economic and development ties.

The delegation, stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in
building bridges between Jordan and Lebanon and advancing cooperation
that serves both nations’ interests. It called for building on the
countries’ distinguished relations through continued parliamentary
coordination to widen bilateral cooperation.

Alama said the talks covered developments in Lebanon, particularly
the situation in the south and Israeli attacks, as well as ways to
expand parliamentary cooperation in the economy, environment, energy,
water, trade and health sectors.
