Baghdad, Aug. 16 (Petra) — An earthquake measuring 3.1 on the
Richter scale struck the Sulaimaniyah governorate in the Iraqi
Kurdistan region on Sunday, according to the Iraqi Seismic
Observatory.
The observatory said in a statement that the tremor occurred
northeast of the city of Chamchamal within Sulaimaniyah governorate.
No casualties or material damage were reported.
