Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Deputy Chief of Staff for Supply Lt. Gen. Khalafallah Abdullah Idris stressed that continued efforts to develop the Armed Forces’ capabilities in information systems and modern warfare technologies are imperative to meet current threats and the demands of the next phase. He made the remarks while addressing the closing session of a workshop on digital transformation in the Armed Forces, held in Khartoum from August 16–18 under the theme “Digital Transformation as a Pillar of Combat Readiness.” Idris said the papers presented at the workshop demonstrated a serious commitment to addressing the Armed Forces’ challenges and marked an important step toward institutional development. He said the Armed Forces’ experience during the Battle of Dignity showed that the rebel militia had obtained support from advanced capabilities in drones, electronic jamming and weaponry. He stressed that the Armed Forces had overcome these challenges and called for the lessons of the war to be studied scientifically and systematically, with shortcomings identified and addressed. SAF Deputy Chief of Staff recommended strengthening the Information Systems and Statistics Directorate through an integrated structure to ensure data accuracy and faster decision-making, incorporating military mobilization into the digital transformation framework, and integrating lessons from the war into military training and professional development.  He also called for preparations for future challenges through the adoption of modern technologies and enhanced combat capabilities in line with the demands of contemporary warfare. Idris affirmed that the Armed Forces’ leadership had adopted all recommendations issued by the workshop and stressed the importance of translating them into concrete programmes and projects.BH/BH
