Gaza, August 19 (QNA) – Ten Palestinians, including nine Palestinian police officers and personnel, were killed and others were injured in airstrikes carried out by Israeli occupation aircraft on Wednesday on the northern and central Gaza Strip.
Medical sources at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that nine Palestinians were killed and about 15 others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the municipal police headquarters in the center of Gaza City, noting that ambulance and civil defense teams transported the bodies of the victims and the injured to hospitals for treatment.
Local sources indicated that among the nine victims were the new governor of the Gaza City police, the director of the women’s police, and a number of police officers, while the General Directorate of Police said that the occupation aircraft targeted the headquarters of the municipal police in the Gaza Governorate, leading to deaths and injuries.
For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza urged the mediators and the international community to take urgent action to stop the dangerous Israeli escalation and the massacres committed against the police force, refuting all the claims made by the occupation to justify its crimes, and said that they are untrue, and that the occupation is working to eliminate the police force in order to spread chaos within Palestinian society.
In the same context, a Palestinian was killed and others were injured as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted a motorcycle near Camp 2, south of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, while a Palestinian was wounded by Israeli army gunfire in Beit Lahia in the north.
According to medical sources, the three Israeli airstrikes that targeted a cafe and a police station in Gaza City, and a motorcycle in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours, led to at least 17 martyrs and dozens of injuries. (QNA)
