Amman, August 19 (QNA) – The Qatar U-19 handball team will face its Saudi counterpart on Thursday, in the opening round of Group B at the Asian U-19 Handball Championship, hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, from Aug. 20 to 31.
The tournament draw placed the Qatar team in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, and Syria.
The Qatar team seeks to secure victory in its opening match before facing Kuwait on Friday, in the second round.
It will then play Iran in the third round next Sunday, before concluding the group stage against Syria on Aug. 24.
Qatar U-19 head coach Khaled Hassan selected a squad of 18 players for the tournament, comprising Rami Mahrous Azzouz, Yousef Ahmed, Yousef Emad Hussein, Alan Mohammed Al Mubarak, Muath Hisham Mahfouz, Mohammed Abdulkhaliq Farhat, Abdullah Salah Hassan, Suhail Faisal Abu Bakr, Mohammed Hisham Khalil, Ahmed Mohammed Shaker, Moamen Abdo, Omar Tarek Fathy, Amanallah Al Ferchichi, Ahmed Anas Khalil, Ahmed Tamer, Yousef Al Sayed Hussein, Abkar Mohammed Taher, and Yassin Abdulrahman.
The Qatar team looks forward to delivering strong performances that will enable it to compete for the championship title and continue Qatar handball’s distinguished presence at various regional and international events. (QNA)
