Amman, August 20 (Petra) – The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) and Dar
al-Omran, a firm specializing in infrastructure development and
environmental studies, on Thursday signed an agreement to prepare
studies and designs for projects to develop agricultural water supply
sources in the Southern Ghor.

The agreement covers the rehabilitation and expansion of the Haditha
farm pond, rehabilitation of the Dhraa farm pond, and rehabilitation
of control gates for farm turnouts and canal offtakes in the Southern
Jordan Valley, according to a statement by the JVA.

The projects aim to increase water storage capacity, utilize surplus
water, improve control and distribution across irrigation networks,
reduce water losses and strengthen the operational efficiency of
water facilities.

The agreement also includes studies on maintenance equipment and
devices to strengthen the capacity of field teams to respond to
maintenance needs and emergencies.

The JVA Secretary-General Hisham Hayseh said the agreement supports
the authority’s plans to improve water management and the reliability
of water supplies for agriculture in the Jordan Valley.

Dar al-Omran General Manager Yaqoub Laith said the company would
apply its technical expertise to develop the required studies,
designs, and technical recommendations in line with best practices.

The agreement comes as part of the Jordan Valley Authority’s efforts
to develop the irrigation and water system, enhance the efficiency of
water facilities, improve water resource management, and support the
sustainability of water supplies for the agricultural sector in the
Jordan Valley.
