JIEC offers opportunity for Chinese industrial clusters

Amman, Aug 22 (Petra) – The Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation
(JIEC) confirmed on Saturday it will offer Chinese investors the
opportunity to establish specialized Chinese industrial clusters in
the electrical, electronic, engineering, and metal industries, among
other sectors.

The initiative is based on His Majesty King Abdullah II’s meetings
with major industrial Chinese companies, during which he invited them
to invest in the Kingdom.

Industrial estates are the primary base to welcome these investments,
as they offer the infrastructure to accommodate industrial
investments and turn economic relations between the two countries
into tangible, productive projects, JIEC said in a statement.

It indicated that the coming phase offers an opportunity to showcase
the investment opportunities available in industrial estates to the
Chinese business community, particularly the Zarqa Industrial Estate.

Zarqa has been declared an environmentally friendly city, poised to
attract major investments in the fields of technology and
electronics, as well as localize value-added industries, logistics,
agricultural technology, and pharmaceuticals, as well as increase
Jordanian exports.

JIEC Director General Uday Obeidat said the industrial cities will
get the message across to the Chinese business community, building
upon the outcomes of the current royal visit to China. He said
Chinese investors will come to Jordan as an “integrated industrial
platform,” enabling them to produce and export to regional and global
markets.

He pledged the corporation’s collaboration with various Jordanian
industrial entities to build serious partnerships with the aim of
attracting industrial investments.

This will be achieved through unifying promotional efforts and
leveraging Jordan’s extensive network of free trade agreements, its
strategic geographic location connecting the Gulf, Iraq, the Levant,
and North Africa, and Aqaba’s position as a maritime gateway, said
Ubeidat.
