Finance Minister Discusses with Kuwait Investment Authority Ways to Strengthen Economic and Investment Cooperation

Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim and Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), Amna Mirghani, discussed with Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority, His Excellency Sheikh Saud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, ways to strengthen economic and investment cooperation between Sudan and Kuwait and attract more Kuwaiti investments to Sudan. The meeting was attended by Sudan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Awad Al-Karim Al-Rayah. The meeting addressed a number of economic and investment issues of mutual interest and ways to develop relations between the two countries, translating the depth of their fraternal and historic ties into practical partnerships and projects. In a press statement, the Finance Minister affirmed Sudan’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and removing impediments facing trade and investment flows, enabling Kuwaiti investors to benefit from promising opportunities in Sudan.  The minister highlighted Sudan’s economic potential and abundant resources, as well as investment opportunities in agriculture, food security, livestock, mining, gold and minerals, ports, and infrastructure. He also presented a number of priority projects and called for strengthening the presence of Kuwaiti investments in Sudan. For her part, CBOS Governor Amna Mirghani addressed the financial and banking aspects supporting investment and trade between the two countries, stressing the importance of enhancing coordination among financial and banking institutions, facilitating transactions and transfers related to commercial and investment activities, and developing financing mechanisms for priority projects in a manner that strengthens investor confidence and supports long-term investments. The Kuwaiti side affirmed the State of Kuwait’s commitment to developing its economic and investment relations with Sudan and exploring partnership opportunities, particularly in the fields of food security, minerals, and sectors in which Sudan enjoys comparative advantages. The two sides agreed to refer the proposed projects and issues to the relevant technical authorities in both countries for study and completion of the necessary procedures, paving the way for moving them toward practical steps in the coming period. The meeting comes as part of Sudan’s efforts to expand its economic and investment partnerships and strengthen cooperation with the State of Kuwait, in a manner that contributes to supporting recovery and development and achieving the shared interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.BH/BH
