Minister of Energy and Petroleum Engineer Al-Mo’tasem Ibrahim announced an expected improvement in electricity supply in River Nile State in the coming days, as maintenance and rehabilitation work at the Shendi substation nears completion, which is expected to help reduce scheduled power cuts. During an inspection of the work at the station on Saturday, the minister affirmed that electricity stability is a priority for the ministry. He expected transformers for Al-Kabashi North Bahri substation to arrive next October, in addition to utilizing the Merowe–Atbara transmission line to enhance the stability of electricity supply in the state. He also announced plans to rehabilitate and train workers in the electricity sector and establish an electricity office in Al-Matammah Locality, affirming the ministry’s continued efforts to rehabilitate the electricity system damaged by the war. In the petroleum sector, the minister affirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing fuel regularly, in sufficient quantities, and at reasonable prices, urging the public not to circulate reports that cause panic or encourage profiteering. For his part, Director of Electricity in River Nile State Engineer Ammar Mohamed Al-Hassan expected an improvement in electricity supply during the coming week as a result of the reduction in power-cut hours.BH/BH
