Aqaba, August 23 (Petra) – Jordan River Foundation (JRF) on Sunday
wrapped up its 2026 summer camp activities.

Implemented by JRF’s Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Community
Empowerment in Aqaba, the camp activities saw the participation of
350 children and teenagers aged 6 to 17, alongside a number of
volunteers and program organizers.

Talking at the closing ceremony, Khaled Alawi, Director of
Institutional Development at the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC),
referred to the ADC’s developmental and investment role in developing
the Aqaba region.

He said this effort stems from ADC’s vision, focusing on true
development that reflects economic and investment projects’
“positive and sustainable” impact on the lives of people and society.

Launched as part of Safe Spaces for Protection Project, in
partnership with the JRF, he said this initiative aligns with the
ADC’s commitment to building “effective institutional” partnerships
with national and civil society organizations.

This process, he said, aims to direct corporate social responsibility
programs to achieve “impactful and sustainable” steps that directly
address community needs.

During the executive phases, he noted that the project provided an
“crucial” model for integration among Jordan’s institutions in
serving the community by offering a safe and supportive environment
for children and adolescents.

He affirmed this environment provides opportunities for learning,
innovation, and positive interaction and enhances the beneficiaries’
life skills to discover and develop their talents.

He remarked: “Investing in children and adolescents is a “long-term”
investment in the future of Aqaba and its community.”

He said providing safe and stimulating spaces would build these
groups who are more capable of learning, interacting, engaging, and
taking responsibility, and strengthens their ability to face
challenges “positively.”
