Amman, August 23 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani
Mustafa called for collective national efforts to protect children
and combat violence against them.

Bani Mustafa made the remarks during a preparatory meeting for
Jordan’s participation in the Second Global Ministerial Conference on
Ending Violence Against Children scheduled for November in the
Philippines.

The meeting reviewed progress on Jordan’s commitments made at the
first conference in Bogotá, Colombia, and preparations for the
upcoming event.

Bani Mustafa called for a comprehensive national dossier showcasing
Jordan’s achievements, services and initiatives in child protection,
including inclusive education, early intervention, healthcare, social
protection and services for children of all nationalities.

Health Minister Ibrahim Bdour discussed the coordination among the
health, social, education and security sectors to strengthen
responses to violence against children.

Education and Human Resources Development Ministry Secretary-General
Sahar Shakhatreh discussed efforts in inclusive education, awareness
programmes and initiatives aimed at preventing violence and ensuring
children’s right to education without discrimination.

National Council for Family Affairs Secretary-General Mohammad
Miqdadi said Jordan is committed to strengthening legislation, family
protection and services for children.

A national preparatory session scheduled for August 31 will review
progress and identify priorities for the next phase.

Family and Juvenile Protection Department Director Brigadier General
Butai Shishani outlined efforts to protect child victims and develop
services in line with international standards, including through the
Integrated Centre for Victims of Violence Services, which provides
psychological, social, medical, legal and security support.
