Amman, August 23 (Petra) – Youth are key to a new initiative directed
by HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein to document Jordan’s history deploying
modern, evidence-based methods, Minister of Government Communication
Mohammad Momani said Sunday.

Momani, who is also the government’s official spokesperson, stated
young people are “essential” partners in building and sharing the
national narrative.

Addressing a dialogue seminar Sunday at the University of Jordan,
themed: ” Jordanian Narrative: Youth, Identity and National Memory,”
he noted that establishing a “verified, research-backed” reference
protects youth from fake news, fragmented narratives, and online
misinformation, which would secure accurate facts from unverified
digital content.

Beyond documenting history, the main challenge is adapting it into
digital media that engages young audiences, he added, urging
universities to take an “active” role in producing national history
for new audiences.

The initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Sanad Youth
Work, will feature digital media, podcasts, visual storytelling, and
documentary projects to engage young Jordanians.

Meanwhile, Senate Culture, Youth, and Sports Committee Chair Haifa
Najjar said national identity is an “evolving, lived” experience
rather than a static inheritance. She noted that cultural renewal,
embracing digital content like podcasts and modern music, complements
tradition rather than undermining it.

Echoing these goals, MP Mohammad Maharmeh, head of the Lower House
Youth and Sports Committee, urged young people to take the lead in
documenting local heritage, calling the investment in youth awareness
“vital” to the Kingdom’s unity and long-term stability.
