Petra, Aug. 23 (Petra) — More than 300 participants representing
various national institutions and sectors took part in the “Hike for
Health and Heritage” event in the historic city of Petra over the
weekend.

The event was organized by the Himmetna Health Association in
collaboration with PwC Jordan, the Petra Development and Tourism
Region Authority (PDTRA), and the “Urdun Jannah” tourism program. The
initiative aimed to raise awareness about road health and safety,
support national healthcare efforts, and highlight Petra’s historical
and tourist significance.

The event coincided with the launch of a project to reconstruct and
expand the Al-Qatranah Comprehensive Emergency Health Center along
the Amman-Aqaba Desert Highway. The facility is designed to serve as
a rapid medical response and rescue station for traffic accidents and
medical emergencies along one of the kingdom’s primary transit
corridors.

Fadia Samara, founder and CEO of Himmetna Health Association, told
the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Sunday that the event embodied
collaboration across the public, private, and civil society sectors
to drive sustainable impact in health, development, and tourism.

Samara added that the Al-Qatranah center will enhance Jordan’s
capacity to save lives and respond rapidly to highway emergencies
while providing comprehensive healthcare services to residents in
Al-Qatranah and surrounding communities.
