Doha, August 24 (QNA) – The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) opened on Monday the “Artistic Expressions” exhibition by female students from Qatar University, at Building 47 in Katara.
The exhibition features 41 paintings and 17 sculptures and installation works by students of the Fine Arts Program at Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences, marking the culmination of the Visual Arts and Introduction to Art courses.
The artworks explore a variety of themes and projects, including sand painting, games from around the world, installation art, acrylic painting on unconventional materials such as foam, scrap sculpture, recycling and modeling.
Professor of Fine Arts at Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Munira Al Meer told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the exhibition features a collection of artworks by students of the Visual Arts course and reflects a diverse artistic experience that began with thinking and research, moved to experimentation and innovation, and culminated in artworks reflecting each student’s vision, personality and individual style of expression.
She explained that the course’s philosophy places the student at the center of the creative process, allowing her to research, experiment and discover before transforming her ideas into artworks that express her individuality.
She said “Artistic Expressions” is essentially an expression of ideas, experiences and young talents, as each student has her own voice and distinctive artistic imprint, reflected in the diversity of the works and their different artistic approaches.
She congratulated her students on the achievement and praised their efforts and work, while thanking everyone who contributed to organizing the exhibition and supporting the students’ works.
She expressed hope that the exhibition would mark the beginning of a new phase of creativity and ambition for the students, encouraging them to continue researching and experimenting, stressing that art is not limited to producing beautiful work, but also serves as a means of thinking, reflection and creating knowledge.
