Introductory Workshops Held on Local Government Financial InstrumentsMuscat, 25 Aug 2026 (ONA) — The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Oman, today organized introductory workshops on local government financial instruments. The aim is to enhance awareness of the importance of institutional investment in these instruments and their role in supporting and developing the local debt market.The workshops addressed the most prominent local government financial instruments and their advantages, including government development bonds, local sovereign sukuk, and treasury bills, alongside a review of the role of investment therein in improving cash liquidity management, diversifying investment portfolios, and enhancing the efficiency of the local debt market.The workshops also covered the mechanisms for bidding, subscription, and investment in government financial instruments, in addition to presenting the approved annual issuance plan for the year 2026.These workshops are part of ongoing efforts to raise the level of awareness regarding government financial instruments and to enhance the participation of financial institutions in the local market, thereby contributing to the development of the debt market and the diversification of investment and financing channels.— Ends/AH
