Dollar Steady as Markets Await Inflation DataSingapore, 26 Aug 2026 (ONA) — The dollar was steady in early Asian trading today, as investors awaited inflation reports from major economies, including the United States, ahead of the Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole symposium this weekend. The dollar remained in the narrow trading range it has held against most major currencies over the past week, with investors awaiting the release of US personal consumption expenditures (PCE) data for July later today. The US dollar index, which measures the greenback’s against six major currencies, snapped a three-day winning streak and was little changed at 98.918 in early Asian trading. The Australian dollar rose 0.1% at $0.7172, while the New Zealand dollar fell 0.2% at $0.5962. The US dollar weakened 0.1% against the Canadian dollar to $1.38405 per dollar. The euro was flat at $1.1675, while the British pound was also unchanged at $1.3647. The yen was steady at 159.14 yen, remaining firmly below levels that triggered joint intervention by US and Japanese officials in the past month. — Ends/AH
