Red Sea State held a ceremony on Thursday evening to honor and bid farewell to the Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Port Sudan, Ambassador Ahmed Youssef Abbas, on the occasion of the conclusion of his term of service. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Wali of Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour. Those attending included the Wali of Red Sea State, a representative of the Commander of the Red Sea Military Zone, the State Police Director, Ambassador Onour, representing the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Jailani Mohamed Jailani, Director-General of the Sea Ports Corporation, traditional leaders and members of the Egyptian Embassy.  Addressing the ceremony, Wali Mustafa Mohamed Nour said: “We were fortunate to have our brother Ahmed Youssef with us in Port Sudan.”He praised the Egyptian mission’s patience and openness in dealing with the demands and pressures of citizens and officials, as well as the Egyptian authorities’ decision to open the borders and facilitate the entry of Sudanese citizens during the early stages of the war. Ambassador Onour, representing the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Egyptian Consulate in Port Sudan, together with the Egyptian Consulate in Wadi Halfa, has served as one of the most important pillars of relations between the two countries since the outbreak of the war waged by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. He praised the services provided by Consul Ahmed Youssef to students admitted to Egyptian universities and to patients seeking medical treatment. Egypt’s Consul General, Ambassador Ahmed Youssef, also addressed the ceremony, reviewing his period of service in Port Sudan and expressing his gratitude to the Wali of Red Sea State.He affirmed the depth of both the official and personal relations that had brought them together and referred to his participation in numerous social and official occasions in the state.BH/BH
