Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem, congratulated the Sudanese people on the major victories achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces, the Joint Force and supporting forces, affirming that Khartoum is recovering despite the extensive destruction it suffered as a result of militia attacks. His remarks came during a ceremony held on Thursday evening to launch development and refurbishment projects for the new premises of the Consulate General of the Republic of Sudan in Jeddah. The event was attended by a number of officials, including Ambassador Farid bin Saad Al-Shihri, Director-General of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs branch in the Makkah Region, State Minister at the Ministry of Finance Dr. Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daim, deans of the Arab and African diplomatic corps, several heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom, and prominent members of the Sudanese community. The Foreign Minister praised Saudi Arabia’s continued and supportive positions towards Sudan, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom’s leadership, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for their attention to Sudanese issues. He also expressed Sudan’s appreciation and gratitude to the Saudi people for the hospitality extended to the Sudanese community, praying for the continued safety and prosperity of Saudi Arabia and the land of the Two Holy Mosques. The minister expressed hope that all bilateral agreements between Sudan and Saudi Arabia would enter into force, further strengthening the brotherly relations and joint cooperation between the two countries. For his part, State Minister at the Ministry of Finance Dr. Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daim praised the solidarity of the Sudanese community with the Consulate General in Jeddah, which contributed to the launch of the new consulate premises. He said the achievement at this particular time demonstrated continued progress towards achieving sustainable development goals both inside and outside Sudan. Sudan’s Consul General in Jeddah, Ambassador Kamal Ali Osman, said the launch of the project marked the beginning of a new phase in developing the consular working environment and improving the quality of services provided to citizens. He explained that the project includes the refurbishment of the premises and the establishment and equipping of a modern hall for visitors and public events, with the aim of improving efficiency and meeting the expectations of members of the Sudanese community in the western region. The Consul General added that the project represents an important step towards establishing a more developed institutional presence for the Consulate and transforming the new premises into a façade worthy of Sudan and the distinguished brotherly relations between Sudan and Saudi Arabia. The development works, he said, aim to enhance the quality of consular services and provide a more suitable environment for visitors and employees, thereby improving overall performance and service delivery.He added that the consulate project represents an important addition to consular work, reflects a positive image of Sudan and includes briefings on the latest developments and events in the country.BH/BH
