Minister of Youth and Sports Meets Delegation of Athletes with Physical Disabilities

Minister of Youth and Sports, Professor Ahmed Adam, met at his office on Thursday with a delegation of athletes with physical disabilities, headed by Rabie Al-Nour Abdel-Mawla Hamid, an athlete involved in disability sports, in the presence of Commissioner Ayman Dirar. The meeting discussed the current state of sports for persons with physical disabilities and ways to develop them and enable athletes to participate in various sporting competitions. It also explored mechanisms for supporting wheelchair sports, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball. The Minister welcomed the delegation and commended the efforts made by athletes with physical disabilities, affirming that the Ministry’s doors are open to them and that empowering sports for persons with disabilities is among the Ministry’s key objectives. Professor Ahmed Adam stated that the goal is to provide all persons with disabilities in Sudan with the opportunity to actively participate in sports activities and events and to create suitable conditions for their participation both within Sudan and abroad, contributing to the development of their abilities and enabling them to raise Sudan’s profile at sporting events. The meeting also underscored the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the Ministry and the bodies concerned with disability sports, in a manner that promotes their participation and ensures their presence in local, regional and international competitions.BH/BH
