Khartoum, August 30, 2026 (SUNA) – Engineer Osman Mirghani, a member of the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue Committee, said the committee’s mission at the current stage is to pave the way for dialogue and create the necessary conditions for its launch, stressing that delving into the details of the dialogue before completing consultations with the relevant Sudanese parties would be premature. Speaking during the committee’s press conference on Sunday at Al-Salam Rotana Hotel, Mirghani explained that “the committee’s mission is preparatory,” noting that attempting at this stage to determine details such as the participants, agenda, and duration of the dialogue could conflict with the nature of the committee’s mandate. He said that following the press conference, the committee would begin direct contacts and consultations with political and community forces, as well as relevant international actors concerned with Sudanese affairs, with the aim of reaching “the first hurdle,” namely achieving consensus among Sudan’s political and community components on the principle of dialogue. He added that determining the format of the dialogue, its start and end dates, its agenda, participating parties, and other details would be among the issues to be resolved through consultations with Sudanese political and community forces. Mirghani stressed that the committee does not want to impose a preconceived vision of the dialogue, but rather seeks to pave the way for Sudanese people to agree among themselves on the dialogue mechanism, its participants, agenda, and outcomes.BH/BH
