Amman, August 30 (Petra) – The unemployment rate among the total
population in Jordan fell to 16.1% in the second quarter of 2026,
down 0.4 percentage points from 16.5% in the same quarter of 2025,
according to a report issued Sunday by the Department of Statistics
(DOS).
The report showed that unemployment among Jordanians, both men and
women, declined by 0.3 percentage points year-on-year to 21.0%,
compared with 21.3% in the second quarter of 2025.
The rate has fallen by 1.7 percentage points over the past four
years, from the second quarter of 2022.
Among Jordanian men, unemployment declined by 4.2 percentage points
from 22.7% in the second quarter of 2021.
Unemployment among Jordanian women fell by 2.4 percentage points
compared with the first quarter of 2026 and by 2.5 percentage points
compared with the second quarter of 2025.
The overall unemployment rate among women fell by 5.3 percentage
points year-on-year to 19.9% in the second quarter of 2026.
The report indicated that unemployment among Jordanians aged 24 and
above stood at 18.0% during the second quarter of 2026.
