Twenty-Three Clubs Participate in
Draw of HM The Sultan’s Football Cup 2026-2027
Muscat, 1 September 2026 (ONA) — The
draw for His Majesty the Sultan’s Football Cup for the 2026-2027 sports season was held today,
with the participation of 23 clubs from different governorates of the Sultanate
of Oman.
The ceremony was held under the
auspices of Eng. Mohsin bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry
of Energy and Minerals.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sayyid
Suleiman bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman
Football Association (OFA), said, “His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup is an integral
part of our history. It is the most cherished competition in Oman.”
Al Busaidi added that the OFA would
continue to develop the prestigious championship and upgrade its technical and
marketing value in a manner that befits its esteemed status. He pointed out
that the championship holds a symbolic value as the “beating heart of Omani
football”.
In the preliminary round, Samayil
will play Bidiyah, while Saham will play Muscat, Al Tali’aa will play Al Mudhaibi, Al Wuhda will play Majees, Nizwa will play Fanja, Al Suwaiq will play Ibri and Al Musanaa will play Al
Arouba.
Nine clubs have already qualified to
the round of 16. The winner of the first match will play Al Nahda, while the
winner of the second match will play A’Seeb, the winner of the third match will play
Sohar, the winner of the fourth match will play Oman club, the winner of the fifth
match will play Dhofar club, the winner of the sixth match will play Bahla club, the
winner of the seventh match will play Al Nasr and the winner of the eighth match will play
Al Shabab.
