Amman, Sept. 3 (Petra) — Labor Minister Nidal Qatamin discussed
cooperation between Jordan and Egypt, particularly issues related to
Egyptian labor in Jordan, in a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to
Amman Khaled Al-Abyad at his office Thursday.

According to a ministry statement, Qatamin said the ties between
Jordan and Egypt remain a key guarantee and solid foundation for
protecting the interests of both countries and peoples under all
circumstances.

He stressed the Labor Ministry’s commitment to keeping communication
channels open to resolve any obstacles facing Egyptian workers within
the applicable legal frameworks.

The minister also stressed the ministry’s commitment to regulating
non-Jordanian labor, singling out Egyptian workers, who he said are
respected and valued by Jordanians.

He noted that the Labor Law does not differentiate in labor rights
between Jordanian and non-Jordanian workers. He said the current
status-adjustment period, which ends later this month, offers an
opportunity for non-compliant Egyptian workers to regularize their
status under the law.

For his part, Al-Abyad praised the continued level of cooperation and
coordination between the two sides on Egyptian labor issues, in line
with directives from the leadership of both countries to strengthen
cooperation across various fields.

Al-Abyad noted that Egyptian workers are keen to abide by Jordan’s
labor law and regulations, commending the ongoing cooperation between
the Jordanian and Egyptian labor ministries and the Egyptian Embassy
in Amman.
