Digital and AI Policy Leaders Forum Wraps Up in Doha
Doha, September 07 (QNA) – The High-Level Forum for Digital Policy and Artificial Intelligence Policy Leaders in the Arab States Region has concluded, bringing together senior officials, experts, academics, and public- and private-sector representatives to advance the region’s digital transformation and AI policy agenda.
The two-day forum was organized by Ooredoo Group and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) and in collaboration with the GSMA and Women in AI.
Discussions focused on the key pillars of digital transformation, spanning digital communications and infrastructure, supportive regulatory frameworks, public digital infrastructure, data governance, and financial inclusion.
Participants also examined the responsible adoption of AI governance practices, national readiness, and the pivotal role of women in AI, with discussions highlighting practical applications across the health, education, agriculture, and public services sectors.
The forum culminated in the presentation of the Digital Policy Framework for the Arab States, proposed by UNDP, alongside the Regional Digital Policy Facility – a regional mechanism designed to accelerate implementation of the Framework and help governments navigate the path from policy assessment and strategy development to implementation and measurable impact.
In a statement Monday, Ooredoo said the forum, building on the aforementioned Framework launched at MWC Doha last year, shifted the conversation from crafting robust policies to translating regional frameworks into national priorities, strengthening institutional capacity, and generating tangible economic and social impact.
Ooredoo further underscored that the forum marked a crucial step in advancing digital policymaking across the region, moving beyond theoretical frameworks toward coordinated action and stronger national capabilities. (QNA)
