Cairo, Sept. 7 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi
participated on Monday in the 166th regular session of Arab League
Council at ministerial level, calling for sustained joint Arab
efforts to counter illegal Israeli actions in the occupied
Palestinian territories.

Safadi, who also chaired the 11th meeting of the Arab Ministerial
Committee tasked with opposing Israeli policies in Jerusalem, warned
that continued aggression risks destabilizing the occupied West Bank,
worsening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and undermining regional
and global peace.

He voiced Jordan’s commitment to protecting Jerusalem’s Islamic and
Christian holy sites under the Hashemite Custodianship and stressed
that the Jerusalem Waqf Department remains the sole legal authority
managing all affairs of the Aqsa Mosque.

Addressing other regional developments, Safadi voiced the Kingdom’s
support for Syria’s unity and sovereignty, while reaffirming
solidarity with Lebanon’s security and calling for a full Israeli
withdrawal from Lebanese territory in accordance with UN Security
Council Resolution 1701.

Safadi also slammed the Iranian attacks against Jordan and Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, stressing the need for regional
compliance with international law and non-intervention principles.
Furthermore, he urged intensified diplomatic efforts to resolve
crises in Sudan, Yemen, and Libya.

In his closing remarks, Safadi thanked Bahrain’s Abdullatif Zayani
for leading the previous Arab League session and welcomed Tunisia’s
Mohamed Ali Nafti as the incoming chair.
