Oman Takes Part in 166th Arab League
Ministerial Session in Cairo

Cairo, 7 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman participated in the
166th regular session of the Council of the Arab League at the foreign
ministers’ level, held at the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo today under
the presidency of Tunisia.

The Omani delegation was led by
Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for
Political Affairs, joined by Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman’s Permanent
Representative to the Arab League, and a number of ministry officials.

The Council reviewed a range of
priority political, security and economic issues, notably the latest
developments in the Palestinian cause and the serious and rapidly evolving situation
in the region, along with their implications for the security and stability of
Arab states and peoples.

The ministers underscored the
importance of strengthening joint Arab action to contain current developments,
prevent further escalation and avert a slide into wider confrontation, in order
to preserve the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states,
and to limit the political, economic and humanitarian fallout of tension and
escalation.

The Council reaffirmed the
centrality of the Palestinian cause in joint Arab action, and the need to
sustain Arab and international efforts to halt aggression against the
Palestinian people, protect civilians, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid,
and support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the
borders of 4 June 1967, with East Al Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital, in line
with international resolutions and the two‑state solution.

The Council also addressed other
Arab issues and developments, stressing the importance of respecting the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, non‑interference in internal
affairs, the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and the
strengthening of regional security and stability.

The Council discussed draft
resolutions and recommendations submitted by the League Council at the
permanent delegates’ level, which had been considered during preparatory
meetings. A number of resolutions were adopted on political, security, economic
and social matters, reinforcing mechanisms for joint Arab action.

Oman’s participation reflects its
commitment to supporting joint Arab action, enhancing consultation and
coordination among Arab states, and contributing to efforts to uphold security
and stability, resolve crises through peaceful means and dialogue, in a manner
that serves the interests of the Arab peoples and strengthens regional and
international peace and security.
