Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Thursday
received the National Center for Human Rights’ 22nd annual report on
the state of human rights in Jordan for 2025.

Fayez received the report during a meeting at the Senate with
Chairperson of the Center Samar Al-Haj Hassan, in the presence of
Commissioner-General for Human Rights Jamal Shamayleh.

Fayez called on the Center to develop a comprehensive national plan
that builds on progress made in protecting citizens’ rights and
freedoms and promotes a human rights culture in coordination with
relevant institutions.

He also stressed the need for the Center to take clear positions on
hate speech and violations occurring across social media platforms,
while taking into account social developments in recent years.

Fayez noted that the Senate, through its specialized committees,
gives close attention to the findings contained in the Center’s
report, as well as to its institutional needs and capacity-building
requirements.

He added that the Senate would continue examining ways to strengthen
legislation and regulations related to human rights and the rule of
law, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

For her part, Hassan outlined the Center’s procedures for assessing
the human rights situation in Jordan, noting that its work is based
on objective criteria and follows relevant international practices
and standards.

She highlighted the Center’s cooperation with the Senate and its
specialized committees in discussing the report’s recommendations and
observations and examining how they could be reflected in the
Senate’s legislative and oversight work.
