Preparatory Committee Member: Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue Key to Ending War

Khartoum, (SUNA) – A member of the Preparatory Committee for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue, Professor Osheik Abu Aisha, said comprehensive dialogue among Sudanese is the most effective way to end the war and address the root causes of the political crisis, following the failure of initiatives launched outside the country due to divergent foreign interventions. In a press statement, Abu Aisha said stopping the war without a comprehensive political consensus would merely “anesthetize the crisis,” stressing the need for an inclusive national dialogue that lays the foundations for freedom, peace, justice, and democratic civilian rule. He added that the Preparatory Committee neither conducts the dialogue nor imposes its agenda, but rather works to create a conducive environment, while the participants determine its agenda and outcomes. Abu Aisha described the committee’s meeting with the Quintet mechanism as “very successful,” noting that international and regional parties had expressed their readiness to support confidence-building efforts and create conditions conducive to the success of Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.BH/BH
