Amman, Sept. 27 (Petra) – The Arab Union for Tourism Media noted the
growing role of tourism in driving economic growth, creating job
opportunities, and fostering cultural exchange on World Tourism Day,
observed globally on September 27.
Union President Awni Dawood noted that rapid advances in AI and
digital technology are cementing tourism’s role in economic growth.
Dawood said that Arab countries are experiencing a rapid tourism boom
supported by substantial investments in infrastructure, hospitality,
aviation, and cultural projects, paired with the region’s rich
natural and historical heritage.
Looking ahead, he stated the need to leverage AI and modern
technologies to elevate tourist experiences and improve service
quality while preserving Arab cultural identity. He stressed that
media serves as a strategic partner in the tourism industry by
shaping brand identity, promoting sustainable practices, and
showcasing successful regional initiatives.
Dawood pledged the union’s commitment to expanding cooperation
between journalists and tourism institutions, improving regional
media content, and positioning the Arab world prominently on the
